以莞岛为中心，东侧潮流呈逆时针方向，西侧呈顺时针方向。最大涨潮流沿海岸线向西、向北流动，落潮流方向相反。莞岛东侧潮流较强，可达3.1kn，大多数水道约1.9kn。莞岛西侧可超过2.9kn。莞岛港内涨潮流向西北方向流动，落潮流向东南方向流动，流速分别为1.5kn、1.4km。
