Suyeongman Marina has a mild climate with an annual average temperature of 15°C and outstanding natural scenery. As a venue for many international sporting events, it is one of the largest yacht racing facilities in Asia, with mooring capacity for about 450 yachts and boats. Built in 1988, the aging facility is scheduled for redevelopment from around June under the theme of becoming an Asian hub marina, and is expected to play an important role in the marine leisure and tourism industries.
The annual average temperature is 14.7°C and annual average precipitation is 1,519.1 mm. Winds are most often northerly to northwesterly in winter, and northerly to northeasterly in other seasons. South-southwesterly and north-northeasterly winds are strong in spring, southwesterly winds in summer, northeasterly winds in autumn, and northwesterly winds in winter. Spring (March-May): normal average temperature 13.3°C, precipitation 370.8 mm, and average wind speed 3.9 m/s. Weather is warm when southwesterly winds blow, but chilly when northeasterly winds blow. Summer (June-August): normal average temperature 23.6°C, precipitation 778.6 mm, and average wind speed 3.6 m/s. Localized heavy rain often occurs when the monsoon front or a developed low-pressure system passes. After the monsoon season, humid and hot weather continues under the southeasterly seasonal wind, and sea breezes have a strong effect on clear afternoons. Autumn (September-November): normal average temperature 17.2°C, precipitation 262.2 mm, and average wind speed 3.4 m/s. Except for typhoon-related damage, the area is mainly affected by migratory high-pressure systems and usually has many clear days. Daily temperature ranges become larger in autumn. Winter (December-February): normal average temperature 4.7°C, precipitation 106.9 mm, and average wind speed 3.7 m/s. Winds become strong when cold continental high pressure expands, and rain or snow falls under the influence of pressure troughs passing over the South Sea and easterly winds.
Currents generally flow parallel to the shoreline. Near Gwangan Bridge, they flow west to east and east to west, with a speed of about 0.2 kn, so they are generally slow.
