Located on the Byeonsan Peninsula, Jeonbuk Yacht Marina is a beautiful place to enjoy yacht education and marine experiences. Yacht lessons for dinghies and cruising yachts, and marine experiences such as flyfish rides, banana boats, and sea rafting are available. At low tide, visitors can experience tidal flats and collect sea cucumbers, clams, abalone, and more. With geographical conditions for yachting in clean waters and yacht mooring facilities, it is a center of marine sports on the west coast.
In terms of general weather characteristics, the inland Buan area shows continental-climate characteristics, the inner Byeonsan area shows mountain-climate characteristics, and outer Byeonsan, facing the West Sea, shows maritime-climate characteristics. Rainfall is concentrated from June to September, when more than 66% of annual precipitation of 1,250.4 mm, or about 823 mm, falls. Winter precipitation is 110.4 mm, a large difference from summer. Annual average wind speed is 1.6 m/s, lower than in other coastal areas, but around Gyeokpo Port at the southwestern end of Buan, strong winds occasionally occur, with wind speeds sometimes higher than over the nearby sea. Winter snowfall often occurs as shower-type snow when cold continental high pressure expands from the northwest, and heavy snow occurs once or twice a year in some years. Because of its location at the southwestern end of Jeonbuk, the area plays an important front-line role in observing west-coast snowfall.
In the sea west of the Byeonsan Peninsula, flood currents flowing in from the open sea move northeast, and some enter strongly into the entrance of Julpo Bay at over 2.5 kn. Ebb currents flow in the opposite direction. The strongest annual flood currents are 0.8-2.8 kn, and the strongest annual ebb currents are 0.8-2.7 kn.
